For Immediate Release
Release Date: AUGUST 24, 2010

Press quotes:

"Hidden Cat is finally, and very much deservedly, getting the recognition he deserves from the big guns... techno that doesn't lose it's frenetic groove for the duration..." iDJ Magazine

"With recognition from the likes of Erol Alkan, Jaymo & Andy George, Hey Today!, Mumdance, Neoteric, Toddla T and more, this seems to be the perfect time for Hidden Cat to be dropping his first EP" Hot Biscuits

"It's... a double celebration as Kill Em All Records prepares for a brand new release on Monday 24th August: the club stomper that is Hidden Cat's 'Get With It.' Fabric

"My iTunes has never looked so good and it looks like next week is set to be another big week, starting with a brand new release from Kill Em All in the shape of Hidden Cat’s ‘Get With It’ EP..." Truants

After releases on Ministry Of Sound (Aus), Boxon Records (Fra) and Lovepump (as part of the HEALTH remix package) as well as positive reviews and features from the likes of Pitchfork, The Fader, Stereogum and Electrorash, Hidden Cat, a.k.a. Madison Bullard drops his UK debut. The Filthy Dukes were such fans of the track that they immediately signed it for their brand new digital imprint, Kill Em All Records.

The single, “Get With It” is, itself, a huge piece of percussive electro with a lead line and bizarre vocal hook enough to destroy any club. The remixes come courtesy of Gianpaolo Dieli, a.k.a. Savile (Southern Fried), NT89 (Southern Fried/Turbo Recordings) and Photonz (Astrolab/Dissident). Gianpaolo’s is a beautiful piece taking a combined influence from the likes of Berlin’s deep house scene alongside the futuristic soundscapes of Hot Flush Recording artists. NT89 morphs the track into something of a peak time, tech infused smash while Photonz combine elements of classic proto house and early techno to create something very original, weird and fantastic.

Receiving early support from artists such as Erol Alkan, Mumdance, Clouds and more, big things are expected this summer from the young American and from the single.

Hidden Cat will be in the UK for his debut show on Brick Lane, London, on Friday August 27th for the Superfilth event at 93ft East.

The single is released on 24th August 2010.

Tracklist:

1. Get With It
2. Get With It (NT89 Remix)
3. Get With It (Photonz Remix)
4. Get With It (Gianpaolo Dieli C64 Remix)

Press for Eskmo New Album "CLOUDLIGHT"

"Cloudlight" By Eskmo (Ninja Tune)
For Immediate Release
Out October 4, 2010

+++++++++++++

"Watch Out For 'Cloudlight' From the Upcoming Eskmo Debut Album via Ninja Tune Label"

Welcome, Ninja Tune’s latest signing: the one and only Eskmo, AKA Brendan Angelides, a native of Connecticut now based in San Francisco. Widely heralded within the community as one of the most original of a new wave of electronica artists, his eponymous debut album for Ninja Tune finally offers Eskmo a canvas broad enough to create his first masterpiece. Embracing and exploring glitch, dubstep and R’n’B, and layering his own ethereal vocals into the dreamy mix, it’s a fine showcase for everything that has made Eskmo such a whispered-about talent.

Angelides has been making tracks as Eskmo since 1999, recording a series of tracks and remixes for labels like Planet Mu and Warp in recent years, and releasing two acclaimed singles, ‘Hypercolor’ and ‘Angus Dei’, on his own Ancestor imprint in 2009. Eskmo’s won the patronage of fellow Ninja-artist, the legendary Amon Tobin, with whom he’s collaborated as Eskamon, while Flying Lotus hand-picked this kindred spirit to play his Brainfeeder Sessions. Via these channels, he was discovered by Nijna Tune, who swiftly invited Eskmo to join their hallowed ranks, and release a debut album.

For this album, Eskmo has abandoned the strictures of making tracks for the dancefloor and the strictures of the 12” single format, and followed his visionary muse. “Before Warp and Planet Mu I kind of fell into the game of making tracks to get released on smaller dance labels, having to cater to ‘dance’ formulas,” he explains. “Over this past couple of years, I feel I’ve let go of that, and just writing the songs I want to write.

I got back to what excited me about making electronic music when I started out, creating these little universes with sound and writing songs.”

The album was, he says, written over a six month stretch “in the middle of a whole bunch of personal relationship-type stuff, a lot of deep life-experience type stuff happening that helped the music just bleed out of me. I just poured all those feelings into the music, it’s very cathartic. I allowed myself to let go of DJ structure – it’s not a ‘dance club’ album, because that kind of stuff hasn’t inspired me in years. This is the first full body of work where I’m singing all over it, and allowing myself to get over that furlough of expression has been really liberating.”

The first release on the label following Ninja Tune’s 20th Anniversary box set signals a brave new chapter for this artist, and for electronica itself. Dreamy, haunting, full of ghostly funk and inventive sonics, Eskmo serves up electronica with a most human heart.

ESKMO's "Cloudlight" featured on SFWeekly

Never let it be said that Bay Area dubstep patron Brendan Angelides isn't a dedicated artist. The talented producer has been working on his own kind of hip-hop-leaning electronic beat music under the name Eskmo for over a decade. In that time he's been picked up by respected labels such as Warp and Planet Mu, and has released music on his own eponymous label. Only recently was he officially signed onto the Ninja Tune roster for the release of his official debut full-length, Eskmo. But the 13-track disc couldn't cause any more anticipation if it was bringing the rapture, so we count ourselves lucky to finally get a first taste of the forthcoming record with this beautifully shot music video for "Cloudlight."

Accompanied by the strange, shuffling sounds that make up the beat for his track, Angelides traipses about a forest with a weathered wooden box before opening it to reveal what appear to be the remains of something (someone?). He then releases some ash -- a fateful action which somehow transports him into a whole other dimension/realm/universe. It's a beautifully shot and moody piece that flows amazingly with Eskmo's pristinely produced track. And if this tune doesn't whet your appetite for brooding electronic jams, you can get an exclusive brand-new track from Eskmo directly.
